Should Reading be a Punishment?

Parents have the largest influence on children when creating enthusiasm around positive activities. However, what happens when a positive activity is made into a negative one?

When children are punished with books, reading develops a stigma that is carried throughout the students schooling. This creates a barricade for students when they approach progressive literature studies.

If you have already used reading as a punishment, your question might be "how do I correct this?" There is always a form of literature that children can read and enjoy. This can include a comic book or a gamer guidebook. These sources can be used as an initiation and progress to different sources of reading materials.

A few changes to a reward system can keep children happy with books, which will be reflective on their report cards and for a lifetime.
