We launched our Academic Displaced Persons Program in February 2016. Since then we have helped 6 Syrian refugees, at least twice per week.
This program was free of charge and completed from the comfort of their home. We predominately covered English and Math based on the Ontario Curriculum, and we had a lot of fun doing it.
For Math, we taught our newcomers the basic principles which included addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
As for English we worked on storytelling and expressed our newcomers to write and speak about the experiences in Canada thus far. We are compelled to say that they think highly of our nation.

We had 50 volunteers that applied within a 2 week window which was much more than expected. We helped a total of 6 Syrian newcomers with structured schedules which then lead to tutoring on an on need basis.
We are currently in the process of acquiring permission to post pictures and specific stories from our newcomers and their private sponsors who helped to arrange the sessions.
